Classrooms & Programs

Toddler Program ~ 9:00-12:30 ~The toddler group has a maximum group size of 6 children who are at least 15 months old.   The child:teacher ratio is 6:1.  The maximum group size is 10 children with two teachers.  We do not offer toilet training for children in this class.

Our toddler classrooms and playground are designed for age appropriate development. Toddlers learn through stories, music, nursery rhymes, sensory activities and games. Fine and large motor skills, exploration, and language development are fostered. We strive to help children learn to participate in a social group setting as well as learn to recognize various objects, colors, shapes, letters and numbers.

A typical day includes:

  • Snack and lunch
  • Story time
  • Toddler crafts
  • Outdoor play (weather permitting)
  • Singing
  • Lots of free time to play and explore 

 

Young Preschool Program ~ 9:00-1:00 ~ The Young Preschool group is for children who were at least 2 years old on August 31st. The child:teacher ratio is 8:1.  The maximum group size is 14 children with two teachers.  Children do not need to be toilet trained to join this group.  When your child is ready to begin toilet training, let us know and we will support your family through the exciting process.

Weekly themes provide learning opportunities in art, music, literature, dramatic play and fine motor development in the classroom learning centers. Children play outside daily (weather permitting) or in the movement room. Children in this group also visit the Reggio Emilia inspired art studio, dramatic play room, and school library.

  • Story time
  • Computers
  • Singing
  • Crafts
  • Outdoor play (weather permitting)
  • Free exploration of age-appropriate learning centers in the classroom

Preschool Program ~ 9:00-1:00 ~ The Preschool group is for children were at least 3 years old on August 31st, or for 4 year olds who are not sure about entering kindergarten next year. The child:teacher ratio is 10:1. The maximum group size is 18 children with two teachers.  We understand and expect occasional bathroom accidents, but we do expect the children in this group to be toilet trained. 

Teachers balance academic lessons and interest activities exposing children to a wide variety of concepts such as science, math, shapes, colors, and the alphabet. Social and self-help skills are incorporated throughout the day. Weekly themes provide learning opportunities in art, music, literature, science, dramatic play and fine motor development in the classroom learning centers. Children play outside daily (weather permitting) or in the movement room. Children in this group also visit the Reggio Emilia inspired art studio, dramatic play room, and school library.

Pre-Kindergarten Program ~ 9:00-1:00 ~  The Pre-Kindergarten group is for children who were at least 4 years old on August 31st who plan to enter kindergarten the following year. The child:teacher ratio is 12:1.  The maximum group size is 20 children with two teachers.  We understand and expect occasional bathroom accidents, but we do expect the children in this group to be toilet trained. 

Preparation for Kindergarten (and beyond) is our objective. Our theme-based curriculum stresses pre-reading skills such as letter/sound relationships.  Early reading skills are also nurtured as many children progress to more complex phonics concepts and reading sight words.  Science and math activities are also incorporated.  Positive social skills are nurtured as children explore the classroom learning centers. Lessons are designed with an emphasis on academics as well as developing creative thinking skills and presented with the perfect balance of teacher-directed and free choice activities. Children play outside daily (weather permitting) or in the movement room. Children in this group also visit the Reggio Emilia inspired art studio, dramatic play room, and school library.
